Finishing our video and putting it on YouTube

In this lesson we had to finish out video advertisement in our group for the product that we have made. The first thing we did was to open our video from last lesson and then because my group had already finished the basic video all we had to do was to make the images fit better with each other and we also had to put in background music and audio of Tana speaking. We started of by adding some audio that we got off the internet to out advert, we got two different audio to add at different parts and then we added some screaming over the fuzzy screen. Then we went to the sound booth to record Tana saying 'Immune... Kids will do anything for Immune.'

Next we had to upload the advert to YouTube by  going onto my YouTube account and then we had to press the upload button at the top of the screen:
And then once we had pressed the upload button we had to press Select files to upload and then we had to select out advert that we made and then it took like half an hour to upload it to YouTube.

video Production Advert Evaluation

In this blog I will be talking about the Video Production advert evaluation and what we produced as a group. We had to produce a creepy advert to advertise our advert for the product that we have produced. In our group we decided to produce a product called Immune which will be a brand of deodorant which we have created. We had to research what sort of film shots that we would use such as Close up shot, extreme close up shot, wide shot, mid shot and two-shot for example in the video that we produced in our croup had quite a few different types of shots in it like when Gus and Tana were standing there talking with each other that was a two shot because there was two of them in the shot. The skills that we learn when I was creating the video were how to use the camera and being able to shoot the right shots that we said that they will be in our story board. Also we learn how to use the editing software called Adobe Premiere Pro:

I feel strong about my final video because we did everything that we were told to do and the video turned out how we’d like it as a group and we all think it is good and advertises our product properly. Next time as a group I think we’d prepare more for the videos and we’d also shoot each shot quite a few times.

Print Advert Avaluation

In this blog I will be talking about the print advert evaluation and what we produced as a group. We had to produce a creepy advert and we also had to produce a creepy poster to advertise our advert for the product that we have produced. In our group we decided to produce a product called Immune which will be a brand of deodorant which we have created. We had to research what sort of fonts what we would use on the final product and we also had to decide what the background picture would be because we would have to make that image creepy on Photoshop with the skills that we have been taught how to use in the Photoshop lessons with Owen. The skills that we learn when I was creating the print advert for our product were how to use the effects when you double click on the layer and on all the layers of text I used the Color Overlay effect to make the text red and then I changed the Opacity to 26% so it is kind of see through and also so the text isn’t fully red so there is still a white border around it. Personally I feel quite strong about my final product because it is everything that we have been asked to do and also the background is one of the images that I took and edited in Marks lesson. Next time if I did it differently I would probably take more time taking the picture for the background and but I would keep the same design and I would still do the deodorant.

Notes on Filming and Editing

Notes on Filming:

When we went out to do our filming we had to make sure that the camera wasn't going to get wet in case it started to rain so we took an umbrella out and we also had to take each shot quite a few times and then we picked out the ones that we liked the most out of the different shots that we did. However for our film we were using fake blood so we had to do our shots quickly before it started to dry and then wed have to use more because then on the film he would of had some wet and dry bits of blood on him and his top.

Notes on editing:

The first thing we had to open a program called Abobe Premier Pro and then we had to import all the bits of the film that we chose and then in we used a tool called 'Mark in' and 'Mark out' to cut out the bits of the film that we didn't want for example in the open scene we cut out some of the bit where there walking so only inside the blue line is the part of that piece of video that we will be using:

Slogans intro-quiz sheet

At the start of the lesson we were given a sheet with some slogans on it and then we had to guess what the different company the slogans belonged to such as 'Just do it' which belongs to Nike and then we also had to describe what the slogan meant and how we thought they were selling products by using that slogan.

Introduction:

For our assignment we were told to take 4 creepy images using our own photography for to go onto an advert after researching some online we were told to get some images from online to get a basic idea of what type of images we had to take to create our own images to go into our finished advert.
My research:

The images that inspired me to do my images were:

These images inspired me because these images are really freaky and unique which is the name of our assignment. With all of these images they gave me some really good ideas with what pictures I wanted to create and then Photoshop so I am able to make the pictures look freakier. In our week 2 research task we were asked to find some freaky images on the internet that stood out to use and that we liked the look of and we had to find out why the photographer took that image and we also had to put the web address link to the website that we got the images off.

Characteristics of freaky/unusual photography:

This means that they are not a true image and that they have all been manufactured to look like that and that they are not normal in everyday life because they have been made up just for that image and probably won’t be made up again unless someone is trying to recreate that image.

What were your ideas?

My ideas were to take an image of someone holding a rose with blood coming out there hand and also to go out into the woods with a model to take pictures with them standing behind a tree with their hands going further up the tree each time so in the final image there would be loads of hands going up the tree.

Photography. What did you have to take into account?

We had to ask if we were allowed to take pictured in a certain place to be able to capture the right image and with kind of the same background image to it, also we had to take the time of day we would take the image depending on how light we would want it outside and depending on the weather. For two of my images I needed to bring in two props for my image such as when I took the one of the rose because I needed to take a picture of a rose in someone’s hand with blood flowing out of it, so I needed to bring in a fake rose and some fake rose and I also had to get a model to stand behind a tree only showing his hands. More importantly I had to use the right equipment but luckily I have everything that I need to take the pictures.

Three edited final shots. What editing processes did you use?

Examples of your final advert artwork

What would you do differently next time and what did you learn from your first assignment?

Next time I would take more interesting images and possibly make them better to the cropping out using the pen tool is much better for the final image. And from my first assignment I learnt that we all have to work hard and help other people so they could help you when you’re stuck or need help with filming or taking pictures.

In your opinion, does your final image meet the assignment brief and your original proposal?

Yes I do believe that my final images do fit the assignment brief because I have done everything that it has said to do and I have done them to the best of my abilities and it also fits the original proposal that I wrote.

Proposal for photographs

To produce my Freak or Unique photography I will need to do make sure I have done the best I can do and that I will have to get everything ready before we take the pictures such as Props, Equipment and the location that we will shoot the images. The props that I will need to bring in are a fake rose and some fake blood because I will be taking a picture where there is someone holding a rose while there is blood dripping down their hand so it looks like they are holding the some to tight that there hand has started to bleed or that the rose is bleeding its self. The equipment that I will need for my images is a camera, tripod, red-head light, light stand and also a plug socket to plug the red-head light into and I will also need some white paper to shoot against. The location I will shoot my images will be outside the back of the collage and also in the room, outside we will do the rose one with the fake blood otherwise the blood will get everywhere on the floor and then we would have to clean it all up so I decided to shoot it outside. I also shouted a picture in the woods with my dad standing behind a tree just showing his hands going further up the tree each shot. The editing techniques I had to use for these images where Pen tool, levels, curves, hue/saturation to make the image black and white. I used the pen tool to cut out each different hand individually to put onto the image of the tree with no hands up so the image ended up having quite a few images of hands up the tree so it looked like loads of people were standing behind the tree holding onto it. The obstacles that I might face are the time that I take the images depending on where the image will be light or dark and also I might have to face the rain which might ruin the images that I have to take and it would be harder to get to places that we could take the images.

Memory check – a recap of things we have covered so far

Q1. What is ISO and what does it effect?

The ISO changes the light sensitivity so a lower ISO the less sensitive it is to light and it had less image noise, when you use a Low ISO you would use it more in brighter conditions.

Q2. When would we use the ‘P’ control setting on the camera mode dial.

The ‘P’ stands for Program and you would use it when you don’t want to change the certain settings because the P mode also sets the lens aperture and shutter speed, but it doesn’t change the ISO or automatically fire the flash

Q3. Name two important consideration when attaching the tripod baseplate to the bottom of camera?

Make sure the arrow is facing forward that is on the baseplate so it will attach onto the tripod the right way.
Make sure the baseplate is fully tight so it won’t come off and the camera falls off the tripod.

Q4. Name three important considerations when using a red-head lighting kit
  • Not to touch the metal surrounding the bulb called the barn doors because it gets really hot.
  • Do not move it straight away because if you hit it the bulb will break and stop working so you’d have to go and get a new bulb to put into it.
  • Don't trip over the wire.
Q5. When focusing the camera, what do we place on the object/subject to ensure it is the centre of focus?

In the camera there is a box in the middle of the screen so you would want to put it onto the object
and then hold the button down to focus onto the image.

Q6. Name two techniques we can use to adjust the brightness and contrast of a photograph?

  •  You can use ‘Levels’ on Photoshop which changes the brightness of the image.
  •  Also you could use 'curves' to change the brightness and the contrast of the image all in one.

Creating a magazine advert

In this lesson we had to draw two magazine adverts to chose which one we would like the most and then we had to create our finished product on Photoshop to show out product that we have created with our groups.
This first image is my first drawing that i did:

In this image i have drew the image of our product and the name and slogan of our product.
This is the second drawing that i have done:
This image is the final one that i created on Photoshop by importing the image of the can that we designed on another document and then i went onto Dafont. com and got a design that i want to use and then i screenshoted it and then cut it out on photoshop and then i got a picture or a deodorant can from the internet and put it onto a new layer and then cut it out and made it small and then i went to Edit- Define pattern and then i went onto the background layer and i double clicked onto the layer and went down to Pattern overlay and i put in the image of the can and then it made the background loads of small cans:

Double checking our work for our advert that we are filming tomorrow and product label

In this lesson we have had to double check all out paperwork for everything that we need to do so we would be aloud to create our final advert. In order to be aloud to do the finished product we had to fill in a number of sheets of paper with the right information on them. Such as: RECCE sheet to fill out moth the information on the location that we will shoot our advert, A spider diagram of ideas for the advert and a proposal.

Then we had to get some pictures of the location, so we had to go and visit the location to see it if it would be an ideal place to shoot the advert:
This path walk wold be good to use at the start of the advert when the two people are walking down the path.
This shot is next to the path in the picture above but we think that it would be good to use when it shows the person dead on the floor.
This where the location is that we chose:
Also this is our groups final product:
This is our final product and we have chosen to do it like this because it all ready fits on the can like that and also we have chosen to make the colour of the background black and gray because when people this of immune they would think of being immune from things that can kill them so its quite dark so we did it black and gray. Also we have added some writing on the side so people know what is exactly inside it and it also has directions on hoe to use the deodorant and also has the caution warning on the can so it tells people what not to do with the can/ deodorant.
This is the health and safety sheet that we had to sign to be aloud to go out and film.

Editing pictures

In this lesson we were told to finish off shooting our images to edit by using the set up that we used last lesson and they we had to edit the pictures on Photoshop with all the tools that we have learnt how to use. With this image i took my picture of the rose that i took and then i added some text on it for out product:
To crop this image i had to use the website Dafont to get the type of font that i wanted to use to put onto the image of the rose, then i used the Magic wand tool to get rid of the white background so its just the writing and then i used the Color overlay setting to change he writing red.

Fonts i have chose to use as my product name

In today's lesson we have been asked to get 3-5 different fonts/ type styles to chose to use on out product. Then we were asked to put them onto Photoshop to crop the background off them and to make it so there isn't any white on the image so it is just the image of the writing. Below are the 5 different fonts/ text styles that i have chose to use and the next thing is to agree with the rest of the group the final font/ text style out of these 5 and there 5 to chose the final font to put on the can.
I think that there are good fonts for my image because they are all freaky in a way and the product that we have to create must be freaky. Also to cut the image out firstly we had to print screen the image of the font and then we had to use the Rectangular marquee tool to delete the bits around the image that i don't want and then i used the Magic wand tool to click on the white background on the image of the text and then deleted it so it is only the text without a white background on it.
The next thing i did was to edit the fonts to try and make them fit the product more so i edited the colours and the fades on the images:
In there images i used a range of edits such as:
Gradient Overlay - 1st image
Stroke - 2nd image
Satin - 3rd image
Color Overlay - 4th image
Drop Shadow - 5th image

library look around

Today we went to look around the colleges library and we were shown around each part and where the colour, black and white printers are. Also that we hall have £2 on our land yard to print things off and it is 5p to print in colour and 2p to print in black and white.

These are some pictures that i took of some books:

Scenes for the film

In this lesson we had to do the story board for out advert so we can follow it as we are doing the proper advert so we don't go off track and start to do something that we haven't talked about doing. To create our story board we used a website called Storyboardthat.com where we could change everything on the story board so we can make it our own.
